1. Who we are and what this policy covers
BuzzMe is a social app that helps you meet people around you: nearby discovery, chat, and voice and video calls. BuzzMe is operated by ChaseLight Technology Limited ("we", "us", "our").
This policy explains what information we collect when you use the BuzzMe app for Android (and our iOS app, which offers the same features), why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the BuzzMe apps and this website.
This policy does not cover Google Play or other services you may reach from BuzzMe. Those services have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
We collect two streams of information: what you give us, and what our app records as it runs.
2.1 What you give us
- Account details. Your email address and password, or the sign-in details from Apple if you use Sign in with Apple.
- Profile details. Your display name, date of birth or age, gender, the area you choose to show, bio, photos, and interests.
- Content you create and send. Posts, photos, messages and voice messages you send, and the profiles and content you interact with.
- Support and safety reports. What you write to us, and reports you file about other users or content.
2.2 Location
With your permission, BuzzMe uses your device's location — including precise location when you grant it — to set your area and power Nearby and People: to show you people around you, and to show them roughly how far away you are. A few details:
- Location is used only while you are actively using the app. We do not collect location in the background, and we do not track where you go over time.
- When you have granted location access, we pass your last known location to our fraud-prevention provider, Forter, to help detect fraudulent payments and abusive behavior (see Section 4).
- Other people never see your precise coordinates. They see an approximate distance, like "0.4 mi away".
- You can decline or revoke location access at any time in your Android settings. If you decline, the Nearby and People features that depend on location won't work; the rest of BuzzMe keeps working.
2.3 Contacts
If you tap Find friends, BuzzMe asks for permission to read the phone numbers in your device's address book. We use them for one purpose: to match people you already know who are on BuzzMe. You can revoke the permission at any time in Android settings. We don't message your contacts, and we don't use your address book for anything else.
2.4 Information the app records on its own
- Device and app details. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and IP address.
- Usage details. How you use the app (screens you visit, features you use, and session information), so we can operate and improve BuzzMe.
- A device identifier that stays stable across reinstalls, so your account stays secure and works consistently.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports and performance data (through our error-monitoring provider) so we can fix problems.
- Notification token. The push token that lets us deliver your messages and calls through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
2.5 Purchases
Coins and BuzzMe Premium are purchased through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; we never see your full card or bank details. We receive a confirmation of what was purchased so we can add coins or activate Premium on your account.
2.6 Advertising ID and measurement
Some versions of BuzzMe use Google's advertising ID, together with measurement providers such as AppsFlyer (and BytePlus in some versions), to understand how people discover BuzzMe and to help prevent fraudulent installs. We do not use the advertising ID to show you third-party ads inside the app; BuzzMe doesn't have them.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device's settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads, names vary by device).
What we don't collect
We don't collect biometric identifiers (such as fingerprints or face templates). Your camera and microphone are used for photos, voice messages, and calls, not to identify you. We don't collect your location in the background or track where you go over time. We don't collect your phone's files, photos, or messages beyond the ones you choose to send through BuzzMe.
3. How we use information
- To run BuzzMe: create your account, show you people nearby, deliver your messages, photos, voice messages, and calls, and keep your content in sync across your devices.
- To personalize: suggest people and content that are more likely to be relevant to you.
- To keep BuzzMe safe: detect and stop fraud, spam, abuse, and fake accounts, enforce our Terms of Service, and act on your reports.
- To handle purchases: credit your coins and Premium, keep purchase records, and handle billing issues.
- To support you: answer your questions and resolve problems when you contact us.
- To improve BuzzMe: understand how features are used (in aggregate), fix crashes, and make the app work better.
- To meet legal obligations: comply with applicable law and respond to valid legal requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't show third-party ads inside BuzzMe.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. Some specifics:
- Active accounts: your profile, content, and settings are kept while you use BuzzMe.
- After you delete your account: identifiable data is removed from our live systems. Residual copies may remain in backups until they are overwritten on their regular cycle.
- Records we must keep: we may retain some information where the law requires it, or where it's needed for security, fraud prevention, or to resolve a dispute.
- What we can't delete: messages you already sent to other people remain with them. Aggregated, de-identified data may be kept indefinitely.
6. Delete your account and your data
You can delete your BuzzMe account at any time, and you have two ways to do it.
In the app
Go to Me → Delete account and follow the confirmation steps. Your account, profile, photos, posts, and message history on our side are deleted, and the deletion cannot be undone.
Without the app
If you've already uninstalled BuzzMe, or can't sign in, email us from the address on your BuzzMe account to request deletion:
- Email: buzzmeandfeedback@nobuzzme.com
- Subject line: "Delete my BuzzMe account"
We may ask you to verify that you control the account. We'll process verified requests within 30 days.
Good to know
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account; use one of the routes above. Deleting your account ends your access to Premium benefits and any remaining coins are lost, without a refund except where Google Play's policies or the law require one. It does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription — to stop future charges, cancel the subscription in Google Play.
7. Your choices and controls
Permissions BuzzMe asks for
Every permission is optional, is requested only when you reach the feature that needs it, and can be changed at any time in Android Settings → Apps → BuzzMe → Permissions.
| Permission | Why we ask | When |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Set your area and show people near you (front of app only) | When you set your area during sign-up, or tap "Use my current location" in your profile |
| Microphone | Record voice messages and talk on voice/video calls | When you record or start a call |
| Camera | Take photos for your profile and posts | When you choose to take a photo |
| Contacts | Find friends who are already on BuzzMe | When you tap Find friends |
| Notifications | Deliver new messages, calls, and activity (Android 13+) | When you enable notifications |
| Photos you share | Pick photos to share via the system photo picker (no permission needed) | When you choose a photo |
Other controls
- Your profile: edit or remove your photos, bio, and other details any time in the app.
- Blocking and reporting: block or report anyone from their profile or a conversation.
- Notifications: turn them down or off in the app and in Android settings.
- Advertising ID: reset or delete it in your device's Google settings.
- Account: delete it any time; see Section 6.
8. Security
We protect your information with technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit for data sent to our servers over HTTPS, access controls that limit who inside our team can see data, and monitoring to detect abuse. We keep improving these safeguards as the service grows.
No service can promise perfect security. Please use a strong, unique password, keep your device protected, and contact us right away at buzzmeandfeedback@nobuzzme.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
9. Age requirement
BuzzMe is for adults 18 and over. It is not directed to, and not intended for, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will close it and delete the associated information. If you believe a minor is using BuzzMe, please contact us at buzzmeandfeedback@nobuzzme.com.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to fix information that is inaccurate (much of it you can edit yourself in the app).
- Deletion: ask us to delete your information — see Section 6.
- Portability: ask for a machine-readable copy of the information you provided.
- Objection and restriction: object to or ask us to restrict certain processing, where the law provides for it.
If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the rights to know, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal information, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
If you live in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we process your information to perform our contract with you, to pursue legitimate interests such as safety and service improvement, or on your consent where required. You have the rights listed above, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at buzzmeandfeedback@nobuzzme.com. We may ask you to verify your identity first. We'll respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires, usually within 30 days.
11. International transfers
BuzzMe is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. When we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps to protect it as this policy describes and as applicable law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page, and if the changes are material, we'll notify you in the app or by email where the law requires it. We encourage you to review this page occasionally; the current version is always here.
